Stringeva ancora a sé l’anziano estratto dall’auto finita nel canale. Recuperati i corpi dell’agente eroe e dell’automobilista intrappolato nelle acque gelide del Gorzone, ad Anguillara Veneta. Una tragedia per la piccola comunità in provincia di Padova, per la questura in cui il poliziotto prestava servizio e per l’intero corpo della polizia di Stato. Tardo pomeriggio di venerdì.
Fa jogging Domenico Zorzino, 48 anni, sposato e padre di un ragazzo di 17 anni. Corre assieme ai suoi due cani sull’argine del canale artificiale che attraversa le province di Padova e Venezia.
Zorzino, assistente capo del Reparto prevenzione crimine, vede il tetto di un’auto galleggiare. È una Ford Fusion che sta per inabissarsi. Non ci pensa due volte Zorzino, lascia il telefono cellulare a terra dopo aver allertato il 115, molla i cani e si getta in acqua.
I soccorsi scattano immediatamente ma da quel momento dei due non si ha più notizia. I sommozzatori dei vigili del fuoco individuano l’auto sul fondale ma quando la tirano su si rendono conto che dei corpi non c’è traccia. Le ricerche continuano, ma senza speranza, per tutta la notte. La temperatura proibitiva e la visibilità azzerata fanno il resto.
È mezzogiorno di ieri quando i sub li trovano a una decina di metri dal punto in cui si è adagiata l’auto. «Erano abbracciati, in un tratto seminascosto del fondale» spiegano i soccorritori. Zorzino, probabilmente, dopo aver liberato l’automobilista, Valerio Buoso, 75 anni, prova a risalire in superficie trascinandolo con sé. Risucchiato dalla corrente non ce la fa e annega.
